Someone plans to install wood laminate floor with attached underlay in his living room. Now he wonders if extra pad is needed to resist the moisture from the subfloor.

There are total 4 layers of wood laminate floor. The bottom layer is moisture resistance layer. The pad directly put on the subfloor is used to reinforce the performance of moisture resistance. There is usually a type of film which main material is PE, EPE or EVA on the surface of pad which plays a key role for the damp resistant purpose. If the attached underlay is with the film, then extra pad is not necessary. If not, extra pad is still needed for heavy damp place. The thickness of the pad should not exceed 2mm.
